August 2025. This week sees two Vivat Matriarchia workshops at Hay Castle, Hay-on-Wye. On Thursday 14th August I will be showing how to make your very own clay MBE’s – Matriarchy’s Best Envoys, that is – in honour of the women, or men, who have been a trailblazer, rebel, or general good egg. Perihelia’s MBEs are inspired by the female self-minted coins in circulation during the mid 17th century.

We will also be using drypoint methods to etch onto acetate to make shadow portraits, as in the etched glass projections created for my final Master’s exhibition in January 2026.

There are Perihelia coins and etched glass currently on display at Hay Castle’s History Cabinet, 1st floor mezzanine, running until mid September 2025.
